Tusdec commissions construction work in Balochistan


Technology Up-gradation and Skill Development Company (Tusdec) has commissioned the construction work of the Light Engineering Up-gradation Centre at the Hub Industrial and Trading Estate in Balochistan with a total cost of Rs217.89 million.

A company spokesperson said here on Monday that an acclaimed contractor has been taken on board to build up a state-of-the-art unit to facilitate the Light Engineering Cluster of Balochistan with improved access to high-tech equipment and technology with an extended avenue of skill development for the pertinent manpower. Land of 8,000 square meters has been provided by Lasbela Industrial Estates Development Authority (Lieda) to establish Light Engineering Up-gradation Centre for SMEs in Balochistan.

The project is being implemented in collaboration with Asian Development Bank as a part of Government of Pakistan’s 5 years SME Sector Development Program. Under this collation, two more Engineering Support Centres are going to be setup in Hyderabad and Peshawar.

Tusdec is setting up Light Engineering Upgradation Centre in close collaboration with Lasbela Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). The centre will rear the SMEs in Balochistan to diversify and enhance their production through contemporary product design facilities, manpower training on latest techniques and equipment, technical assistance and consultancy services.

Automobile, match manufacturing, plastics, auto parts engineering, electrical goods manufacturers, metal parts and products manufacturers will be the prime beneficiaries of this project. The spokesperson further stated that the Leuc is being established with a total cost of Rs217.89 million.

The centre on accomplishment will be an epitome of public-private partnership as from conception till establishment; it is attributed to the generous cooperation of key stakeholders from both the government and private sector. Both Tusdec and LCCI are fully committed to complete this project in due course and chalk out a future strategy to facilitate further technological advancement and skill development in the province of Balochistan utilising the services of this centre
