Earlier, Brigadier Mazhar Kayani, commander of the Logistics Lahore Garrison, informed the media that 400 tonnes of relief goods had been collected in Army Relief Camps in Lahore. He said that 139 tonnes of food items and medicines had already been transported to the quake-hit areas. He said that with inclusion of Wednesday’s consignment, a total of 339 tonnes of rations and other relief items would reach the calamity-hit region from the Lahore Garrison. He said that a number of NGOs and civil organisations were making generous contributions for this noble cause. He lauded the overall national spirit in providing succour and solace to the distressed people.
