Federal govt allocates Rs45 bn for Balochistan, says Dr Malik


ISLAMABAD: Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has said that the federal government has allocated Rs45 billion for Balochistan under the Public Sector Development Projects.

He said that there is complete harmony among the coalition partners in provincial government and all issues are being resolved through consensus, Radio Pakistan reported on Tuesday.The chief minister said that the government has started the process of rehabilitation of the internally displaced people from different areas of the province.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Balochistan, Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has said that the current era is the era of human resources, developing the capabilities and getting benefits from them.

“Government has vowed to bring a solid change in the present state of affairs of education sector, therefore, educational emergency has been declared in the province under which enrolments would be increased in schools, the attendance of teachers would be ensured, the capacity of teachers would be built and the trend of cheating in exams would be discouraged,” he added. He expressed these views in a briefing given by the Commissioner Kalat Division regarding development projects and law and order in Kalat Division in Khuzdar, on Tuesday.

Commander Southern Command General Naseer Khan Janjua, Provincial Minister for Agriculture Sardar Aslam Bezinjo, Chief Secretary Balochistan, IG Police and other concerned authorities were present at the briefing. CM Balochistan was informed about the performance of education, health, C&D, agriculture, Livestock and other departments in Kalat Division. He said that cadet colleges and residential colleges in Balochistan would be made functional that would help bring improvement in the education sector. He directed for early repair of building of Govt. Degree College Khuzdar and to ensure all basic facilities to colleges and schools. “The shortage of teachers in colleges and schools should be immediately addressed,” he said. CM expressed his resentment when he was informed that X-ray machine in District Headquarter Hospital Khuzdar is dysfunctional upon which he directed that it should be made functional forthwith. Besides, he also directed for taking concrete steps to remove shortage of doctors in the hospitals.

Taking serious notice of the absence of doctors from their duties in district hospital Khuzdar, the CM, directed for their immediate suspension and added that serving the masses was the first preference of incumbent government. He said that no negligence would be tolerated in education, health and other sectors. He directed Deputy Commissioner Khuzdar to come up with a solid monitoring system of basic health centres and to ensure basic health facilities to the far-flung areas of the province. “After education department, the powers of health department would also be transferred to divisional and district level,” he informed.

CM directed agriculture department’s officers to contact with Pakistan Research Council for seeking their guidance for getting productive seeds that help increase productivity in different crops and the growers could get their due compensation. He also nominated Provincial Minister Sardar Aslam Bezinjo as focal person so that the set targets could be achieved.
