Scholarships for Balochistan scholars

ISLAMABAD,The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has decided to award 600 masters’ leading to PhD scholarships worth Rs3.13 billion to the natives of Balochistan. The scholarships will be awarded under the “Aghaz Haqooq-i-Balochistan package” announced on August 30, 2012. However, the scholars after completing their PhDs will have to serve in Balochistan for at least five years after completion of their courses.

The project will supplement the government’s efforts to focus on human resource development in Pakistan. It will also provide incentives to the talented students of Balochistan to achieve excellence in their area of interest and ensure availability of trained manpower for research and development in basic sciences, agriculture, life sciences and engineering and technology, arts, languages and social sciences.

According to media coordinator of HEC, Murtaza Noor, 400 indigenous and 200 overseas scholarships for masters/MS leading to PhD studies would be awarded to the natives of all 30 districts of Balochistan.

Furthermore, 25 per cent scholarships have been reserved for in-service government, R&D organisations/faculty members and
employees of universities, colleges/degree-awarding institutes and remaining 75 per cent will be awarded on open merit.

The HEC has already awarded 1,200 scholarships to students of Balochistan under the “Provision of higher education opportunities for Balochistan and Fata” project during the last four years. Under the second and new phase of the project, 1,300 scholarships will also be awarded to the students of Balochistan and Fata.

Mir Changez Khan Jamal opens road up-gradation

Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Mir Changez Khan Jamali has inaugurated Rs. 15 millions four roads up-gradition projects in his constituency Nasir Aabid, Jaffar Abad in Balochistan.

Speaking on the occasion the Federal Minister expressed that the present democratic government was aware of the problems of the people. He said that through developmental projects the thinking and way of life will be made progressive.

He reiterated that PPP government is committed to its pledges and through package of Aghaz-e- Haqueq-e-Balochistan, the rights of the Balochistan are protected.

The Federal Minister said, "our top priority is to address the problems of the people at their door steps by launching construction of roads which will pave the way for development in the area, and through developments the life standards of the people will get improve.

42 of total 61 targets under Balochistan package implemented

ISLAMABAD: Around 42 targets under Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package have been implemented which was announced to end deprivation, ensure employment and bring development in the Province.

Under the package, there were total 61 targets in constitutional, political, administrative and economic related areas and since its announcement more than 80 per cent objectives have been achieved. An official source on Thursday said special committee headed by Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik had accelerated the pace of implementation process and to achieve the desired results.

Balochistan package: CAA conducts interviews of 762 candidates

Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) conducted interviews of 762 candidates for providing employment in Authority under Aghaz-e-Huqooq Balochistan (AHB) package at Quetta International Airport. These less educated unemployed youth came from far-flung areas of Balochistan province.

CAA is engaged in improving air travel and providing modern facilities at the airports in Balochistan.
According to a press release on the special directive of Defence Minister Ahmed Mukhtar Director General Civil Aviation Authority issued directives for providing jobs to less educated local youth in CAA.

Interview of 762 candidates were conducted at Quetta International Airport in phases.

Shortly appointment letters of the successful candidates would be issued.

The decision to provide employment not only to less educated people was taken but also a strategy has been prepared for providing dignified employment to higher educated youth.

Under this system advertisements have also been issued in the national and regional newspapers for the post of General Manager to Deputy Manager and staff for new Gwadar International Airport project.
Providing modern travelling facilities at all international and domestic airports in Balochistan is objective of Civil Aviation Authority and keeping it in view modern ILS system has been installed at Quetta International airport meeting long standing demand of people of Balochistan particularly business community.
Under this system landing and takeoff of aircraft has been made possible during 24 hours while in the past takeoff and landing of aircraft was possible during day light.

The promotions of employees working at Quetta, Gwadar, Turbat, Pasni and Panjgur airports have also been made during recent days on merit while basic facilities have also been taken care of at these airports in far-flung areas.
