Army to help police for peace in Balochistan, says COAS

QUETTA: General Raheel Sharif, Chief of the Army Staff, visited the Combat Training Area in Quetta Cantonment on Thursday where specialised anti-terrorism training is being imparted to personnel of the Balochistan Police and Balochistan Constabulary, an ISPR press release said.

Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Nasir Khan Janjua and other senior officers were also present on the occasion. Currently, 200 individuals of police and Balochistan Constabulary are being imparted training by Pakistan Army’s Southern Command in Quetta. Eight-week-long course here will conclude on 7 Feb.

The COAS appreciated the standard of training and enthusiasm displayed by trainees. He expressed the hope that these trained persons will play an important role in combating the menace of terrorism in the province.

He reiterated the Pakistan Army will provide maximum assistance in enhancing the capacity of the Balochistan Police to ensure peace in the province. Three more courses will be run by the Pakistan Army this year for police and Balochistan Constabulary.

Earlier, in 2013, the Pakistan Army provided 5,000 weapons and 500,000 bullets to the Balochistan Police besides imparting training to 200 police individuals to enhance their capacity in anti-terrorism. The trained force now comprises Anti Terrorist Force, Balochistan, and has displayed good performance in the last few months after the training.

Police helpline 15 inaugurated in Quetta

Chief Minister Balochistan Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch says the provincial government is committed to provide all possible facilities to Police to improve its performance.

He was inaugurating Police Helpline one five in Quetta this morning.

The Chief Minister said the helpline will facilitate the citizens against anti-social elements and restore their confidence. He said that merit would be maintained in the promotions‚ postings and transfers of police officials.

Balochistan police donated relief goods for Awaran quake victims

Balochistan police have donated seven truckloads of relief goods for the earthquake victims of Awaran.

The relief goods were handed over to Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority‚ Hafiz Abdul Basit by Inspector General of Balochistan Police‚ Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhaira in Quetta on Wednesday.
