NHA to speed up work on Balochistan road projects


Islamabad—National Highway Authority (NHA) has decided to speed up work on slow moving ongoing projects in Balochistan, especially Gwadar linkages in the present fiscal year. In the PSDP-2013-14 Rs 63147.884 million have been allocated for National Highway Authority and the NHA would attach top priority to completion of those projects which are over 70 per cent completed and the ongoing projects in Balochistan would be especially in the focus, said an NHA official Wednesday.

He said as per budgetary documents, Rs 599.118 million have been earmarked for 132 km Qila Saifullah-Waigum Rud section of N-70 which lies in Balochistan. Similarly Rs 524.700 million will be spent on 124 km D.I.Khan-Mughal Kot section of N-50 during the coming fiscal year. Rs 5000.000 million have been allocated for widening and improvement of Hoshab-Nag-Basima-Surab highway (N-85) in the coming budget.

Rs 4659.616 million,he said, have been allocated for National Highway Development Sector Programme (Sukkar-Jacobabad N-85),and Rs 3433.000 million have been earmarked for Gwadar-Turbat-Hoshab section of M-8. He said the NHA will spend Rs 3433.000 million allocated for 200 km section of Gwadar-Turbat-Hoshab section of Gwadar-Rattodero Motorway (M-8).

Rs 50.000 million have been allocated for improvement of 43 km Nutal-Sibi-Dhadar section of N-85.Moreover Rs 500.000 million will be spent on 247 km section of Kalat-Quetta-Chaman section of N-25. He said that Rs 300.000 million have been earmarked for Makran Coastal Highway (N-10),Liari-Gwadar section (531 km) and Gwadar-Gabd section ( 122 km).—APP
