Italy to donate Euros 300,000 for Balochistan earthquake victims

ISLAMABAD : The Italian government has offered donation of 300,000 Euros to Pakistan government for the rehabilitation of earthquake affected people in Balochistan. Italian Ambassador in Pakistan, Chiodi Cianfarani who called on the  Finance Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar here Sunday morning, conveyed the sympathies of the people and government of Italy over the recent earthquake in Balochistan and offered to donate 300,000 Euros for the earthquake affectees.

He informed the Finance Minister that the Italian government would  provide debt relief of Rs5.7 billion to Pakistan for spending on government’s Poverty Alleviation programme and Citizens Damage Control programmes.

In addition, Italian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs plans to visit Pakistan along with a business delegatio, the ambassador said adding that his country was keen to expand the existing bilateral economic relations between the two countries.

The Finance Minister said that Pakistan values its relations with  Italy and is keen to expand economic ties with it He thanked Italy for supporting Pakistan’s case in IMF and expressed the hope that it would also extend its support in European Union for grant of GSP plus to Pakistan.
